About Us - Homer Village Market
Hello, I am Jean Scherer, the owner and operator of Homer
Village Market and co-owner of nearby Goose Run Farms. A
native Ohioan, I had my first rural experience when I left a
corporate career in 2001 after buying a small farm in sparsely
populated Homer, Ohio. Adjusting to living out in the country
was easy since I had friendly neighbors and friends to show me
the way. One of the things I immediately missed, however, was
being able to walk to the store to buy a few things impulsively.
With no other stores in the vicinity, and the nearest major chain
store over 10 miles away, I sensed a need for a store in the
community to save folks time and money avoiding trips to town for
essentials. Not only that, State Route 661 is a busy road for
commuters and people working in the area; and they get hungry
and thirsty on that long stretch of highway between towns.
Homer Village Market - General Store opened in August 2006
about a half mile from the family farm, at the cross-roads of a
busy intersection near the Homer Post Office. The store appears
tiny and quaint. Step inside, and you'll be amazed at the variety
of products conveniently available in such a small space.
In addition to all their favorite convenience items at moderate
prices, customers can find farm-fresh brown eggs, local lamb,
groceries, and many hard-to-find specialty items such as
alligator, gourmet sauces, and fancy foods. To support the local
economy, we stock many Ohio and regional products.
This tiny store welcomes you in a big way! Please stop by to see
for yourself, or if you have questions, please let us know!
